king tut

when i was a little girl, i decided i wanted to be an archaeologist.
i believe this career choice was inspired by indiana jones.
later, i found out that most archaeologists
never have adventures like dr. jones and his father.
also i discovered that archaeology has a lot more to do with
science than history.
boring.
but history and excavations still excite me.
i love the story about howard carter's first glance into the tomb.
someone asked him what he saw.
his response: "yes! yes, wonderful things!"
imagine that.
what an amazing moment in history.
today i had the rare opportunity
to see some of those wonderful things.
wonderful, indeed.
i saw a coffin for a cat.
and king tut's bed.
and jewelry that was on his mummy.
some artifacts were 5000 years old.
unbelievable.
the little girl in me was beyond giddy.
and now i'm dreaming of a trip to cairo.
