it rained on the 4th.
and i have no grill (how un-american of me),
nor did i have a bbq to attend.
so stef and i went to the grocery store
and bought tiny tubs of potato salad.
the guy buying one hamburger and one slice of bacon
must have been in the same boat.
we should have invited him to come over.
we fried hamburgers on the stove,
then watched shutter island during the storm.
spooky.
later, we read that the fireworks were delayed.
i was sure they'd be cancelled, but no, sir --
boulder ignored the rain and set them off anyway.
i guess they thought they might as well add
to the lightning show that was already happening in the sky.
we ran to the top of a parking structure,
and listened to the massive booms bounce off the flatirons.
what a weird 4th.
