a friend who is an expert gardener
suggested that i prevent my tomato plants from,
well, growing tomatoes
by pinching off the flowers
until the fourth of july.
this allows the vines a little more time to work on themselves
before taking that next big step in their little plant life:
producing fruit.
the plan seems to have worked!
last night, i discovered a tomato the size of a golf ball
hiding under some leaves.
so exciting!

My guess is this little guy wanted to be found, just like your little niece and nephew playing hide-and-seek, they really do want to be discovered.
