this morning
shauna and i went for a little drive up to gold hill,
a town founded during the gold rush.
it's ten miles or so up a steep, curvy, partially dirt road.
terrifying.
but it has amazing views.
old miners' cabins seem awkwardly placed in between
new, modern houses along the drive
through sunshine canyon.
but once in gold hill, there's no sign of modernity,
other than the new cars parked along the streets.
every house is at least 100 years old
and old men sit on their front porches,
dressed in overalls and straw hats.
after being there for an hour or so,
you begin to believe in time travel.
choosing just one photo for this entry was difficult.
i took a lot.
so i decided to post a few.
after all, it's my blog.

This looks like my kind of place. Really fun. Love MOM
I think Ramin stops here occasionally on his bike rides to talk with the old men and grab a drink.
Your photos are incredible as always!
great photos! are these film or digital?
cara
Thanks, friends.
These were taken with my little digital point-and-shoot camera, but I did take some others with my 35mm SLR and a Polaroid. Eventually, I'll post those as well.
