As I mentioned in my previous blog, Don Miller e-mailed me this morning to tell me about his new blog, www.donmilleris.com.
I responded to Don's e-mail, but I haven't received a response yet.
Here's our correspondence:
FROM DON:
Dear people who get this important e-mail,
As many of you know, I delivered the closing Benediction at the Democratic National Convention on opening night. It was quite an experience and I will share more with you on my new blog at www.donmilleris.com.
First, though, I want to share with you a correspondence that has taken place between myself and Senator Obama. People have asked whether I know the Senator and whether weve met. Barack Obama and I have had an ongoing e-mail correspondence for several months, the bulk of which I have posted as a first entry to my blog.
MY RESPONSE:
Dear Don,
Thanks so much for telling me about your blog. It made me laugh really hard and come dangerously close to snorting and shooting my vanilla latte out my nose. That's really cool that you and Barack have been exchanging e-mails. He's been texting my friend a lot and causing her to go over her monthly limit on text messaging, which is costing her a fortune. The next time you see him, could you ask him to stop? Surely, he has an iPhone, considering all the personal e-mails and texts he sends to millions of supporters. Man, that guy is a machine.
Congratulations on saying the prayer at the DNC. I really appreciated what you had to say -- especially the part about asking God to help us figure out how to pay teachers what they deserve. My cousin Erin will certainly thank you if God hooks her up with more pay. (Her school actually just offered her a negative raise. Yeah, that's right -- a negative raise.) I know there has been a lot of controversy over what you said, but I think you were spot-on. Pretty sure it was just you and God having a conversation anyway, so I don't know why people feel like they need to analyze every word and its implications. It's not like anyone's sitting around, dissecting every word you said to me in that e-mail. Same thing, right? Well, kind of.
Anyway, gotta run. Talk to you later!
Next time you're in town, give Rusty a call, and we'll grab a pint!
Cheers!
Mandy
