just walk on by

My brilliant cousin, who happens to be a high-school English teacher, did some research and found the essay that I was referring to in my previous blog. It's called "Just Walk on By," and the author is Brent Staples.

I found a copy of it here, and I strongly encourage all of you to read it. (Don't worry--it's pretty short.)

Obviously, it had an impact on me, which has stuck with me for the past 5 years, so I consider it worth reading.
