life without the internet

For the first year I lived in Indianapolis, I lived by myself and became extremely addicted to cable TV -- On Demand to be exact. After I overcame that addiction, I swore that never again would I spend so much time in front of the TV. Of course, as is normally true, as one bad habit was broken, another one was birthed: the internet.

I love the internet. I love e-mail, Facebook, blogs, MSNBC, the iTunes store, etc. The list goes on and on and on. For the past few days, I have been forced to experience life at my house without this luxury. Suddenly, the wireless network that we had, umm, been borrowing disappeared. All other networks are locked. Last night, I nearly went insane. Tonight it was worse. Though I was exhausted, I lugged my computer to a coffee shop to use their wi-fi connection.

Though I'm obsessed, my hope is that the internet will not be restored at my house. Though I was going insane last night, I found myself doing strange things like writing a letter and reading a book . . . and even going to bed early. Crazy. Who knows what may happen if I continue to be deprived of the world wide web . . . maybe I'll write the next great American novel, find a cure for cancer, or climb a fourteener. Stranger things have happened.

What? I finally became addicted too so I could talk to you and you're gone. I don't think so--find some other Internet to borrow--I'm starting to like this. MOM
