a phrase that annoys me because i don't understand it

Today I heard someone say, "Buh-bye now," and I cringed. First of all, I hate when people say, "buh-bye," but with the added "now," I really hate it. Is there an implied "for" in the phrase, meaning "Goodbye FOR now"? I really can't think of any other explanation for the added "now." Any ideas?
