It's hard to believe, but I'm actually turning in an application for a job tomorrow. And what's even more surprising is it's another retail job. As I considered what might be next, I was sure I would be going back to the world of the office, but when I walked into my favorite store on Pearl Street today and caught a glimpse of the "Now Accepting Applications" sign, I began to reconsider. I do like retail--just not being on my feet all day, dealing with demanding, crazy customers, helping to increase the profit of greedy American corporations. But working on Pearl Street, in a cute, independently owned store--a store whose owners seem to have good taste in music--I can handle. I might even like it. So tomorrow I'm going to hand in my application. It may or may not work out. I know this. But at least it's some glimmer of hope for a consistent income. We'll see . . .
Thanks to everyone who has offered words of encouragment. It's meant a lot!
