napa: part deux

last year, we took a tour of sonoma wineries,
guided by platypus tours.
we loved it so much that we decided to go again this year,
but this time, we went to napa vineyards.
our tour guide, kevin, took us to some great places.
first, we went to a tasting room,
where we sipped approximately 10 wines
(yikes!)
and fell in love with manchego cheese.
next up was robinson family vineyards,
which we adored.
seeing a bike like this one at a winery
is always a good sign.

as the name indicates, the vineyard is still owned and run by the family.
the founder's granddaughter gave us the tour.
it was fun hearing her talk about her fun, quirky grandpa,
who had fun hanging out with his neighbors,
making wine, and creating fun labels.

next, we went to silverado,
a winery owned by walt disney's daughter.
while here, i forced the girls to pose for "senior pictures."

yup, owned by a disney.
anyone can cook!
(or drink!)

silverado -- quite the view

robert biali vineyards
during prohibition, biali's neighbors called him on the party line
and requested "black chickens,"
which was the code word for wine.

as you can see,
we took a lot of photos of each other while in napa.

reminded me of florence.
