For the 61st year in a row, a group of churches in the Denver area held an Easter sunrise service at Red Rocks amphitheater. Rusty and I sacrificed some sleep and warmth this morning to attend the event, which began at 6:30 a.m.. Though it snowed last night and the temperature was only about 20 degrees, nearly 9000 people showed up to see the sun rise over Denver as they listened to the Easter message. It was an amazing way to spend Easter morning, as you can't help to think of the power and greatness of God in a place as beautiful as Red Rocks (seriously, I get this feeling even in the middle of a Ryan Adams concert) -- but especially on a day as special as Easter. Just as the sun rose directly behind the stage, they released about 30 doves into the sky. So amazing!Rusty took some photos, but until I can get my hands on one of them, here's a photo I stole off of a news website.
Happy Easter, everyone! He is risen, indeed.
