the swell season

On Saturday night, Shauna, my mom, and I saw Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (now known as The Swell Season), accompanied by The Frames at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver. Most of you will probably recognize Glen and Marketa as the stars of the film Once, a musical that was in theaters last year. Or you may have seen them accepting their Oscar for best soundtrack on your TV. Or maybe you've never heard of them. If this is the case, I suggest you run to your nearest Blockbuster and rent the film immediately.

Glen and Marketa are amazing together, and backed by the Frames, they are even more amazing. The show was beautiful and intense, and Glen's rambling stories were thought-provoking and entertaining. The only disappointment of the night was that he didn't sing this song:
