the office

As most of you know, I work in a very sterile, corporate office in the middle of a barren field. On lunch breaks, I often go to chain restaurants or the mall. When I started at my place of employment, the building was located on Pearl Street in Boulder, and I would often spend my lunch breaks sitting outside, listening to a large man sing and play the harp while enjoying food made by locally owned businesses.

Though my surroundings have become rather unpleasant, I have found that the longer I am there and the better I get to know the people that sit around me, I can actually enjoy being at work . . . though the actual work we do is rather boring.

Most people in the office would agree that my team, which is made up of 10 people, is quite possibly the loudest and craziest of them all. Over the past year, we've had a lot of fun using a simple Microsoft application called Paint. It's basically a really dumbed-down version of Photoshop. Most days, the face of someone on our team surprisingly appears on the body of someone (or something) else.

My friend Ryan, whom we somehow have started referring to as "Walter," is the most common face to be transplanted on a different body. Recently, it was Ryan's birthday, so we slapped his face on the body of the father from "Different Strokes," and then put him and Gary Coleman in front of a nice tropical background. We then had this photo printed onto a cake. It was hysterical! (The original photo is above. Photos of the cake are below.)

How I can sometimes complain about my job when there are things like this going on there is beyond me. :)
