Several weeks ago, Ryan Adams announced on his blog that due to some health issues, he will be taking a step back from music and leaving his band, The Cardinals. This news was greeted with many tears by those of us who consider ourselves his biggest fans -- those of us who may or may not have accidentally grabbed his arm at Red Rocks.
Ryan has not made it clear whether or not he will someday bless the world with his beautiful sad-bastard music or not, but just in case he doesn't, some friends and I wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the music that he has already created.
On Friday night, Shauna and I hosted a little Ryan Adams party. We drank wine, laughed, cried (okay, not really), listened only to Ryan, and collaboratively expressed our feelings through a work of art.
A good time was had by all. Cheers to Ryan and to all my crazy friends who were willing to participate.

And now he's engaged, apparently. Are you handling that news OK?
That piece of art is strange enough to probably sell for a couple of millions in an art gallery somewhere---maybe Boulder. MOM
