bloggity blogs

So one of the super-nerdy uses of technology that I have fallen in love with over the last couple of years is the RSS feed option on most sites, particularly blogs. Basically, you click the little "RSS" feed button, and magically, when someone updates their site or blog, you receive a notification in your e-mail inbox. It helps me to stay on top of the new posts on all of my favorite blogs. Love it.

Recently, I've been reading more and more blogs written by random people with whom I have no relationship. Most of these are blogs about new music, French fashion, interior design, art, etc., but just a few weeks ago, I clicked on a link on a friend's site and was taken to Matt Logelin's blog. Immediately, I was captivated. Just one year ago, Matt's wife gave birth to a little girl, Madeline, and then, the very next day, Matt's wife, Liz, passed away unexpectedly. Matt began writing about the joy of being a new father juxtaposed with the loss of his beloved wife. Thousands of people, mostly strangers, now read his blog every day, and he's even appeared on many television shows to discuss his experience. Of course, it's interesting to see how a young, single father manages to raise a little girl, but I think what's most intriguing about Matt's blog is his blatant honesty. Every time I read it I am envious of his ability to be so transparent with both himself and the world. I suggest you check it out . . . so inspiring to see how he so gracefully deals with the hardships that have been thrown his way.

also, my rss feed does not always work because i did not know about this post or the other one i'm about to comment on.
