welcome, president obama

Well friends, it's over, and I really can't describe to you how happy I am. As you all know, we witnessed a major event in our country's history on Tuesday night, and I feel so privileged to have been able to be one of millions of Americans who were able to participate in making Barack Obama our next president.

I spent the majority of the evening at Jenna's apartment, intently watching the numbers roll in. We're both from Ohio, so when NBC announced that the results from the Buckeye state were in, we cheered, "O-H-I-O!" It's been said, "As Ohio goes, so goes the nation," when it comes to elections, so we assumed that was it. And we were right. Suddenly, the focus was on the celebration in Grant Park in Chicago, and Jenna and I had our own little celebration in her apartment, cheering, clapping, and crying, as fireworks were set off all over Boulder.

Both of the candidates' speeches made me proud to be an American, and grateful that both so graciously accepted the choice the nation made. And I wholeheartedly believe it was the right choice. When I woke up the next morning, I immedia
tely smiled, sensing hope was in the air.

So here we go, America. Get ready. This change that you voted for is not going to come about solely by waiting for our new president to try to change policies in a complicated system, full of red tape; YOU are the change, and you can start today. You don't have to wait for Inauguration Day.

So, tell me, what kinds of changes do you want to see? And what can you do to make them happen?

Of course arent you also the person who voted for Bush and supported the Iraq invasion. Good track record. You should have followed me and voted for Bob Barr. I havent been wrong yet.
