goodbye, jeffery

My parents informed me last night that they traded my old Jeffery (a VW Jetta) for a new Lucy (a Jeep Liberty). During our short year or so together, Jeffery gave me a lot of trouble, but I learned to love him despite the pain he inflicted on my life . . . the brake getting stuck while I was in an ATM drive thru, causing me to miss the rest of my work day; the brake getting stuck while parked in our garage at home; jerking suddenly and randomly while driving down the road, nearly giving me whiplash every time, the radio needing to be replaced twice in about three months; and my favorite moments: the turn signal and windshield wipers turning on when I had not touched the levers. I truly will miss him and his cute little quirks, but I'm happy for my parents and their new car . . . and for Jeffery, but not so much for his new owner . . .
