Tomorrow morning I will kick myself for writing this. (It's 2:30 a.m., and I'm staying awake to write it . . . and I have to get up at 7:45.) Of course, I know if I laid my head down on my pillow right now, I wouldn't fall asleep anyway, so I might as well update the world on the happenings of my life.
It's been awhile since I last wrote, so I'll just give the highlights of the last few weeks . . .
Saturday was my birthday, and several of us went down to Denver where Chris and Kelly, a couple who have been coming to our church, planned a fun evening out. It was such a blessing to be treated to such a fabulous night out on the town by two people I just met a month or so ago! We went out to dinner at the Wazee Supper Club in Lodo, and then we got gelato at a cute little cafe on a street where there was an Italian street art festival taking place. It was a great birthday!
Last week Shauna and Jess came to visit. Jess got to experience the weirdness of Boulder in a special way when we went to get a free massage at a place that was recommended by a friend. Let's just say, we didn't get the massage, but ran out, trying not to laugh out loud inside the building. Instead, we drove out to Boulder Falls, which I think was a much better option for the two of us. However, I do plan to go back for my free massage.
A couple weeks ago Donnie (Ramin's friend that just moved here) and I tried to sneak into a concert. We failed to sneak in the back (or the front), but I did manage to get a bouncer to let us in for free. The musician ended up doing a few encores, so it was well worth the effort to get in, even if we only saw the end. The concert was great, but most of the fun was had in attempting to get in. Yes, I do have a strange, random, bold, adventurous, desire to do something illegal type of streak in me. :)
On Thursday I went to Fort Collins to see my good Canadian friends Dennis, Jason, Jeremy, and Kevin (aka Red Umbrella), who were opening for Seventh Day Slumber. They played a great show, and I had the chance to spend a lot of time with them both before and after the concert. Oh how I love my Canadian friends . . . such sweet boys and so so funny. Sadly, they have retreated to Canada, So no more calls at unreasonable hours from Kevin for awhile. :)
On Friday I hit a pole with my Jeep in a parking garage. The reason: stupidity. I forgot the pole was on my passenger side, and I cut hard backing out. Oops. Poor Lucy . . .
Yesterday we helped Ramin and Natalie's landlady, Catherine, move into her new house. By the end, most of us were extremely slaphappy. As a result of lifting a million boxes and laughing a lot (mostly at Natalie), nearly all of the muscles in my body are sore. But it was well worth helping Catherine out and having a good time with my good friends.
Life is good in Boulder. Our church is growing, and the relationships within our community are growing stronger. It's evident that God is working in each of our lives and around the city of Boulder. This Wednesday will be the last time all of us will meet together at Brady and Julie's for cell church. Because of our size, we're sending a group of seven out to start another cell church near the downtown area of Boulder.
Thanks to all of you who read my random thoughts--especially to Nathan, Cara, and Niles who have encouraged me to keep this up . . . And Nathan, I promise to write soon! :)
