My dad was kind enough to get me an early Christmas present -- a ticket to a glitzy, amazing, magical Harry Potter party, complete with live owls, food, drinks, and a couple of the actors!
The associate producer of the first three Harry Potter movies happens to live in Boulder, and she has started a fantastic organization called There with Care, which supports families with terminally ill children. Because of her Hollywood connections, she's able to show the movies before their release dates (I saw it on Wednesday), host a fancy party, and auction off props and other prizes to raise money for There with Care.
A few of my favorite Harry Potter-obsessed friends and I saw the pre-s
creening on Wednesday, and then I went to the party on Sunday night with Chris & Kelly.
Some of you have asked about the party. Well . . .
It was hosted by a family (they invited jibbitz for Crocs) in Boulder. The house was huge. And amazing. I arrived a little after the party started, hopped out of my car (complimentary valet, of course), walked up the red carpet, waited in line for a few minutes, grabbed a password (baubly) and stated it to the "fat lady" behind a veil of haze. I was then allowed to enter.
After finding Chris and Kelly, I loaded up a plate with delicious food, catered by some of my favorite local restaurants. Nearly Headless Nick was placed beside the deviled eggs, of course. There was also wine -- lots of wine . . . and beer . . . and butterbeer . . . oh my!

We then wandered around Diagon Alley, where we found live owls, shops, a car just like the one Ron & Harry flew into the Whomping Willow, and Platform 9 and 3/4. Also, we checked out the items that were being auctioned off, a small "museum," which contained many props from the movies, and the basement (basically a music venue), which was full of cupcake towers and butterbeer.

Next, we attended the live auction, where they raised nearly $54,000 in an hour or so. (Yes, there were a lot of wealthy people there.)

After that, we watched the band for a bit, and then, finally, I met Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) and Seamus Finnegan (Devon Murray)!

I'll definitely be going again in July for Part 2! Who wants to join me?
